The School Day

At the West Wold Federation, we believe that every part of the school day provides an opportunity for children to learn, grow and flourish.

Our schools provide a welcoming, nurturing and inclusive environment where children are encouraged to be curious, develop their independence and enjoy learning alongside their friends. As a federation, we work closely together while celebrating the individual character and community of each school.

A Typical Day

The school day is carefully structured to provide a balance of high-quality teaching, purposeful learning, play, physical activity, social time and opportunities for children to develop their wider interests and talents.

Each day includes:

  • A warm welcome – children are greeted positively and are ready to begin their learning.

  • High-quality lessons – children experience a broad and balanced curriculum designed to build secure knowledge and skills.

  • Collective worship and reflection – opportunities to develop our values, spirituality and understanding of others.

  • Break and lunchtime – time to play, socialise, develop friendships and enjoy being active.

  • Enrichment opportunities – including clubs, sporting activities, creative experiences and opportunities to contribute to school life.

  • Time to celebrate success – we recognise children's achievements, effort, kindness and contribution to our school communities.

We place great importance on regular attendance and punctuality, as every school day matters. Being in school every day gives children the best opportunity to make progress, build strong relationships and fully participate in school life.

Before and After School

Our schools provide opportunities for children to access wraparound care and a range of activities beyond the core school day. These provisions support families and give children additional opportunities to play, socialise and develop new interests.

Working Together

The school day is more than lessons in a classroom. It is a time for children to develop the knowledge, character, confidence and values they need to thrive.

Across the West Wold Federation, our aim is that every child feels safe, valued, included and inspired to achieve their best.

Arriving to school every day, on time and ready to learn is our aim for every pupil in our school.  Pupils who arrive into school after registration (9.00am) will be marked as late (L) in the register.

Pupils who arrive into school after 9.20am will be marked as an unauthorised absence (U) in the register.
If your child is going to be absent or late you must inform the school office by 9.00am.
